The Viettel High-Tech Data and Research and Development Center in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City was started by Viettel on the afternoon of April 23. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Major General Tao Duc Thang - Chairman of Viettel Military Telecommunications Group.
The Data Center (TTDL) has just started construction on a super-large scale, in the Top 10 in Southeast Asia. This is a project marking a step forward in Vietnam's data infrastructure, started on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The project is deployed on an area of nearly 4 hectares, with a total designed capacity of up to 140 MW of electricity with about 10,000 racks. This is the first commercial center in Vietnam to reach a capacity of over 100MW, also known as a super-large scale, equivalent to major commercial centers in the world. Tan Phu Trung Trade Center is designed and operated according to Uptime Tier III international standards.
The center has an average capacity of 10kW/rack, 2.5 times higher than the average in Vietnam. The highest rack capacity is up to 60 kW, meeting the high-performance computing needs of large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) models and applications.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan expressed his expectations for Viettel's large-scale super project. According to Mr. Vo Van Hoan, the operation of the Super-Scale Data Center in Cu Chi not only has strategic significance for Viettel, but also creates a strong driving force for the City in developing digital infrastructure, building smart cities and digital government.
This center will promote the application of advanced technologies such as AI, 5G network, cloud computing, IoT, Blockchain, cybersecurity and Big Data; at the same time, contribute to the formation of an innovation ecosystem, improve the quality of digital human resources and create high-value jobs to serve the development of the city's digital economy and digital society, Mr. Hoan emphasized.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized that the data center located in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park is a piece of strategic importance in the overall picture of digital infrastructure that the unit is continuing to create.
Currently, the unit has 15 data centers operating in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong. In 2025, the unit will complete 20,000 5G transmission stations, ensuring coverage of 95% of urban residential areas nationwide. Outstanding-speed connection infrastructure and super-scale computing infrastructure are ready to provide comprehensive services to people, businesses and the government.
Not simply a strategic decision in terms of infrastructure, Tan Phu Trung Data Center is also a long-term commitment of Viettel to Ho Chi Minh City in the new development stage, Mr. Thang shared.
Phase 1 of the project is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026, and the entire project will be completed before 2030.
