New leaks show that some Apple software engineers have expressed concerns about the performance of the comprehensively renovated Siri version, expected to launch with iOS 26.4. While not specifically mentioning the weaknesses, this information shows that Apple still has work to do before releasing the official update.
iOS 26.4 is expected to launch in March or April next year, meaning Apple has about 5-6 months left to optimize the new Siri.
At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced the new generation Siri with three key capabilities: recognize on-screen content, understand personal context, and control within the application. For example, Siri can help users ask about relatives' flights or lunch plans, based on data in Mail and text messages.
Initially, a new Siri was expected to appear in iOS 18.4 last year, but Apple postponed it for further improvement. CEO Tim Cook said the company was making good progress in July and set a release target for next year.
However, if technical problems remain, it is entirely possible that the new Siri will continue to be delayed after iOS 26.4.
