YouTube has just announced that it will update the shopping experience on the Shorts platform by launching a new product label, allowing viewers to easily identify the products appearing in the video that can be purchased.
According to YouTube, this new feature could help content creators increase their income. During the testing phase last month, Shorts with product labels attracted 40% more clicks to the product than videos using only traditional Shopping buttons.
Previously, labeled products only appeared in a small transparent in the lower left corner of the video, with a Shopping button. When clicking, viewers are led to a list of products to approve and buy.
With the new update, creators can label products in videos and YouTube will automatically create a sticker from the first product attached. The creator can adjust the size and position of this sticker in the video.
The product labeling feature is currently rolling out globally this week.
At the Cannes Lions 2025 event, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan revealed that Shorts currently records more than 200 billion views per day. He also shared that Google's Veo 3 video creation tool, which is capable of creating both images and sounds, will be integrated into Shorts later this summer.
