The Thai Navy's 3rd flo flo flo flo flo floodwaters said Panya Permwongnitikorn, the captain of the Tor Khrong Phet Rung Ruang fishing boat, reported at 11:50 a.m. on March 23 that a man was being rowed a rubber boat about 14km from the Similan Islands and about 80km from Phangnga. The rubber boat of this man had a bottle of drinking water and a suitcase.
Bangkok Post reported that the marine rescue forces arrived at the scene and arrived at the fishing boat at 12:15. Here, rescue forces met Ho Hoang Hung, 37, on a rubber boat tied to a fishing boat. The rubber boat is 2.5m long, with almost all the bottles of drinking water, about 10 packs of instant noodles and 1 suitcase.
The Vietnamese man told Thai authorities that he was rowing a boat to India to meet his Indian wife in Mumbai. Ho Hoang Hung said the couple got married 2 years ago but were separated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ho Hoang Hung said he traveled from Ho Chi Minh City and arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on March 2. At the airport in Thailand, the Vietnamese man planned to take another flight to India but could not get a visa.
Instead, Ho Hoang Hung took a bus from Bangkok to Phuket and bought a rubber boat. The Vietnamese man boarded a boat to leave Phuket on March 5 and headed to India.
From Phuket, Thailand to India by sea is about 2,000km. Thai fishermen discovered the man after 18 nights alone at sea.
Thai officials took Ho Hoang Hung to the office of Mu Ko Similan National Park in Phangnga to arrange further support.
