According to a study analyzing the stem and leaves of sugarcane, up to 56 phenolic and flavonoid compounds have been identified, which have the potential to explain the antioxidant effects, metabolic regulation and support of the intestinal microbiome in biological models.

In the context that oxidative stress and inflammation are the two main mechanisms causing damage to the liver and kidneys in many chronic diseases, the antioxidant role of these compounds is particularly important.

WHO and leading health organizations emphasize that foods rich in antioxidants can help reduce the oxidative burden on the liver and kidneys, thereby supporting the body's natural detoxification function.

A recent study shows that polyphenol extract from sugarcane honey can reduce alcohol-induced liver damage in animal models by increasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes and reducing inflammatory cytokines. This shows that compounds in sugarcane can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in the liver.

Another study using sugarcane residue extract in a diabetic model showed that it can reduce oxidative stress, regulate antioxidant enzymes and reduce fatty liver in experimental animals.

This is consistent with the modern medical view that regulating glucose and lipid metabolism can help reduce liver damage and improve kidney function over time.

Sugarcane in fresh juice form is a source of potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and some B and E vitamins, along with natural phytochemicals.

These vitamins and minerals play a role in supporting the function of liver and kidney cells, participating in the process of electrolyte balance, energy metabolism, and reducing oxidative stress.

However, nutrition experts also warn that drinking sugarcane juice daily in large quantities is not suitable for everyone, especially people with high blood sugar or chronic diseases because it contains natural sugar, and should be used in reasonable dosages and frequencies.
