New storm news from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the depression has officially strengthened into a tropical depression, with the local name Verbena.
At 7:00 a.m. on November 24, the center of the tropical depression was at about 9.5 degrees North latitude - 128 degrees East longitude, about 290 km east of Surigao city, Surigao del Norte.
The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is about 45km/h, gusting to 55km/h.
The tropical depression is moving westward at a speed of 20km/h.
PAGASA forecasts that the tropical depression will directly affect the areas of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao..., experiencing heavy rain, strong gusts of wind and rising water.
Tropical depression Verbena is forecast to continue moving north-northwest, approaching northeastern Mindanao before making landfall in Visayas and northern Palawan from today, November 24 to November 26.
After that, the tropical depression will officially enter the East Sea and become storm No. 15 on November 26.
At around 5am on November 27, storm No. 15 reached its peak intensity and became a severe tropical storm in the central East Sea.
The storm's path is forecast to head towards the South Central and South of our country.
People and tourists in these areas need to prepare measures to ensure safety against the risk of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides due to the impact of storms.

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that between November 26 and 27, there is also a possibility of the formation of tropical cyclones (storm or tropical depression) in the East Sea.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the period of November 21-20, December 2025, the East Sea area is likely to experience 1-2 storms or tropical depressions. Some may directly affect the mainland of Vietnam.
On average, in many years, the East Sea usually has about 1.2 storms/tropical depressions at the same time, with 0.4 of them making landfall in our country.
