On October 22, the leader of Nha Trang Ward Police, Khanh Hoa Province, said that this unit had coordinated with the Department of Culture - Social Affairs of Nha Trang Ward, the Social Protection Center and Social Work of Khanh Hoa Province to hand over the 4-year-old boy to his biological mother in the afternoon of the same day.
According to Ms. P.T.H.Q (born in 1993, from Da Nang City), because she had to go to Japan, she took her 4-year-old son, L.T.S, to Nha Trang Ward to leave for relatives to look after for about 2 months.
However, relatives refused to accept S because they were taking care of and raising her two young children.
Unable to find a solution, in a difficult time, on the afternoon of October 19, Ms. Q booked a taxi to pick her up from Le Dai Hanh Street to take her to a hotel on Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang Ward.
The authorities have conducted a check of related documents to determine the relationship between the biological mother and the biological child before handing over. Ms. Q also pledged to take care of and raise S and thanked the authorities for taking care of him in the past few days.
As reported by Lao Dong, on the afternoon of October 19, a taxi driver took the boy to the Nha Trang Ward Police Station to report the suspected abandonment.
According to the taxi driver's statement, on the same afternoon, a woman booked an SM Blue taxi and asked the driver to take the boy (born in 2021) to a hotel on Tran Phu Street to meet his father.
After taking the boy to the designated address, the driver contacted the phone number provided by the woman, but no one picked up the phone. Re-contacting with the woman who called earlier, the phone number could not be contacted.
Checking the child's luggage, the driver discovered some personal documents related to the child left behind.
Due to not finding relatives, on the afternoon of October 20, Nha Trang Ward Police and Nha Trang Ward Department of Culture and Social Affairs transferred the baby to the Khanh Hoa Social Protection and Social Work Center for temporary care and nurturing.
On October 21, Nha Trang Ward Police contacted Ms. Q to verify and convince her to go from Da Nang to Nha Trang to receive her child back.
