When tens of thousands of people from all over flocked to Hanoi to watch the parade, many families, restaurant owners... opened their doors, inviting strangers to relax for free.

Warm destination

Unexpectedly, many people in the capital have turned their houses and stores into free stops during the A80 Festival.

One of them is the house of Ms. Nguyen Phuc Hau's family at 71 Trang Thi Street. From the days of synthesizing, rehearsing and rehearsing, her family has set aside a space to invite people to rest.

As the official holiday approached, the family proactively discussed with the owner of the fashion store that was renting the premises, suggesting that they close the two days of September 1 and 2 - to have all the space to welcome people. In return, the family is exempted from a month's rent for the store.

The fashion store has temporarily stopped business, giving up all the space on the first and second floors to welcome people.

Witnessing many families struggling to carry their children from distant provinces to Hanoi to watch the parade, she did not hesitate to make this decision.

The U70 woman confided: "Seeing people carrying a 6-month-old baby from Lang Son here, I feel so sorry".

Mrs. Hau's family prioritizes those living far away such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An..., and families with elderly people and children.

When asked about the sacrifice of revenue, she just laughed gently and affirmed: "People ask me if I regret it. I think this joy is priceless. This is the heart of the family on the occasion of the National Independence Day".

Not only cleaning the space, the homeowner has almost everything to welcome guests, from spreading carpets, showing; arranging cool fans, providing drinking water... to arranging chairs in front of the people's houses, preparing food. There are snacks of boiled corn, fruit cakes, main meals of sticky rice, chicken...

Ms. Tran Thi Mo (Ha Dong, Hanoi) - a person who stayed at Mrs. Hau's house with her family - said: "I also contributed to helping people arrange for the elderly and children, place chairs in front of the sidewalk, clean up trash... There is no one to assign work here, whoever sees something should do it".

"I sleep about three hours a day," she said. In addition to managing the place to eat and sleep for the people, Ms. My also supported the police officers and the volunteer youth team to distribute drinking water, milk, cakes... to people watching the parade on Trang Thi Street.
