On the final official competition day of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won another gold medal in the 4x1,500m open water swimming event for mixed relay. This is the final swimming competition at the 33rd SEA Games, held at Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Beach, Chonburi.
The 4 swimmers Nguyen Huy Hoang, Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi and Mai Tran Tuan Anh had a good combination, defeating Singapore and Thailand with a time of 1 hour 12 minutes 18 seconds to win the gold medal.
Previously, in the 10km individual open water swimming competition, Mai Tran Tuan Anh won the men's silver medal and Vo Thi My Tien won the women's bronze medal.
Except for Nguyen Huy Hoang, this is the first gold medal of Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi and Mai Tran Tuan Anh at the 33rd SEA Games. For My Tien, this medal is very special because she had never stepped onto the podium to receive the highest award.
The 20-year-old female swimmer won 5 silver medals and 8 bronze medals at the Southeast Asian Games. At the 33rd SEA Games, the Tay Ninh athlete "pocketed" 3 silver medals, 5 bronze medals, and was the athlete with the most medals in Vietnamese sports. Finally, the 4x1,500m open water swimming gold medal in the mixed-use event helped My Tien complete her entire collection.
After My Tien's performance, Pham Thanh Bao's boyfriend posted a congratulatory post on his personal page. He shared a photo of the swimmer born in 2005 with the caption: "Congratulations on having my first SEA Games gold medal".
During her journey at the 33rd SEA Games, Thanh Bao always accompanied her girlfriend. When My Tien was under psychological pressure, the "frog prince" of the green swimming route sent words of encouragement and a message to the female swimmer with a celebration of placing two fingers in the shape of the letter T (Tien's name).
On her personal page, Thanh Bao also did not hesitate to express her affection for the other person. From the end of 2023 until now, the male athlete has often shared everyday moments, celebrating medals alongside My Tien.
