Along with My Linh, Thu Phuong is one of the two "Sisters Who Makes Wave 2023" returning to the stage in 2024. Her captivating and explosive performances in the past episodes made Thu Phuong stand out no less than the other talented "Sisters".
In addition to her increasingly successful career, Thu Phuong currently has a fulfilling life with her husband Dung Taylor. Previously, the female singer had experienced many ups and downs with a broken marriage.
Thu Phuong's first husband was Huy MC - a famous singer, musician, and MC in the 1990s. They got married in 1993 and had two children, Duy Hai and Thanh Thao.
However, after settling in the US, the couple gradually broke up. In 2007, they announced their divorce peacefully, with the female singer raising the two children.
During her time as a single mother in a foreign country, Thu Phuong met manager Dung Taylor. Recalling Thu Phuong's situation at that time, on The Khang Show, Dung Taylor said: "When Thu Phuong met me, she had to be both a mother and a father. I told her that this was unfair, Thu Phuong only needed to be a mother, and I would do the rest."
At that time, Dung Taylor was in San Francisco and Thu Phuong was in California. However, the manager kept coming to see his lover, to the point that the flight attendants recognized him because they were so familiar with each other. Over the course of two years, Dung Taylor gradually "transformed" Thu Phuong.
"At that time, I was a show producer so I had a lot of money, but I saw that Thu Phuong was lonely so I wanted to meet her," the producer said.
The two officially got engaged in 2012 and had two children together, Gia Bao and Thanh Thuy. But it wasn't until 2023 that the female singer officially accepted Dung Taylor's proposal.
The couple's delay in getting married for more than a decade has left many viewers wondering. According to Dung Taylor, their 11-year engagement was a "mutual test", a time for Thu Phuong to make sure she had found the right person after her first marriage failed.
"I told Thu Phuong that even if I die, I don't want my tombstone to not have my wife's name on it. I said it in a vague way, but maybe Thu Phuong felt so sorry for me that she accepted my proposal," Dung Taylor humorously shared.
The manager affirmed that it was love that helped the singer of "Come here and listen to me" find herself again. He said Thu Phuong became more feminine and loved romance. He liked to let Thu Phuong be more spoiled and "girly" when she was with him.
Not only that, Dung Taylor also loves the singer's two children wholeheartedly. He was the one who welcomed Duy Hai and Thanh Thao to the US to reunite with their mother after a long time apart, taking care of and raising both of them as his own children.
Thu Phuong and Dung Taylor planned to get married in December 2023 in Hai Phong, Thu Phuong's hometown. However, due to their busy work schedules, especially participating in the program "Sister Who Makes Wave", the couple has only registered their marriage and has not yet held a wedding.
After many incidents in the past, Thu Phuong shared that she cherishes her current happiness and always tries to preserve her family. The singer's journey to find happiness after her first broken marriage is also a testament to her belief in true love.
