Blackpink's Rose is cementing her status as one of the top K-pop artists of this generation. She made a successful comeback as a solo artist with her latest single "APT." featuring pop star Bruno Mars.
Rose is the first Kpop artist in history to simultaneously occupy Top 1 on major music charts, including Spotify Global, Apple Music Global, iTunes Global, and YouTube Global.
Before that, no Kpop song had ever climbed to Top 1 on Apple Music globally.
She also set a record as the first female K-pop solo artist to top the US Spotify chart - the world's largest music market. Currently, "APT." has maintained the Top 1 on Spotify globally and Spotify US for 4 consecutive days.
However, according to Allkpop, this came as a surprise to Korean audiences, as many of them had thought that Blackpink members Jennie and Lisa, who are more popular overseas, would release a global breakout hit.
Before Rose, Lisa released 3 songs: “Rockstar”, “New Woman” (featuring Rosalia) and most recently “Moonlit Floor”. Jennie also released “Mantra” on October 11, just a week after “APT.”
“Mantra" and “New Woman” have both seen impressive streaming success. But “APT.” has really made a big impact on the world.
A post on online community Pann Nate that has garnered 66k views stated: “Both Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are flooded with Rose-related content whenever you scroll through.
Not only is there the “APT.” video, but there are so many videos of Rose. Right now, Rose has completely swallowed the Korean algorithm. She is completely dominating as the top female solo artist. It's crazy."
Under the post, many viewers agreed, they thought that Rose had really created a big bang, even though she was not the most expected member after the 4 Blackpink girls left YG.
