On October 24, the solo song "APT." by Rose (Blackpink) in collaboration with Bruno Mars climbed to No. 1 on the global Apple Music chart.
“APT.” surpassed Jungkook's “Seven,” ILLIT's “Magnetic,” and BTS's “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance” (all in the Top 2), making Rose the first Kpop artist in history to top Apple Music's global daily chart.
Rose’s achievement is even more impressive when “APT.” is currently not only at the top of Apple Music globally, but also occupies the Top 1 position on Spotify Global, Spotify US, and YouTube Global charts. This is something that no other K-pop artist has achieved.
The song “APT.” released on October 18 has recorded a continuous increase in streaming on Spotify. With 6.85 million streams on the first day and increasing to 14.59 million streams on the fifth day.
Rose is the first female K-pop artist to have a song reach over 10 million streams in a day, surpassing Blackpink with “Pink Venom" (7.39 million streams). Currently, “APT.” is in the Top 2 of K-pop songs with the most streams in a day, after “Seven" (15.9 million streams).
“APT.” is the opening track for the full album "Rosie" consisting of 12 songs that Rose will release on December 6.
The song, co-written by Rose and Bruno Mars, is inspired by a popular drinking game in Korea called “Apartment”, pronounced “apateu” in Korean.
The two artists agreed to keep the Korean pronunciation of “apateu” (abbreviated as APT), as a way to honor the Blackpink member's roots.
"APT." is a pop-punk song with a cheerful, energetic melody. In the MV, the two artists show a fun, adorable interaction. The moment Rose kisses Bruno Mars on the cheek went viral on social media. The MV has now reached 118 million views after 6 days of release.
