On August 4, Korean media reported that the Kpop girl group NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) had a successful performance, being chosen to perform during the match between Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur, as part of the 2024 Coupang Play Series.
News1 emphasized, “the girl group NewJeans created a fantastic halftime show for the world-class football match,” held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the evening of August 3.
The match received a lot of attention because both famous European clubs have Korean stars playing. These are player Kim Min Jae for Bayern Munich and player Son Heung Min for Tottenham Hotspur. All tickets were sold out early.
At the Seoul World Cup Stadium, NewJeans performed a series of the group's hit songs including “Attention”, “Hype Boy”, “ETA” and “Super Shy", exciting the 60,000 spectators in the stands, who cheered and applauded in unison.
NewJeans also confidently interacted with the audience during breaks between songs, making the stadium even more lively.
Earlier, all five members participated in the kickoff for the match and took photos with the two star players Son Heung Min and Kim Min Jae.
The performances of NewJeans became a trend on social media Twitter. On the Korean online community Theqoo, many posts about NewJeans attracted tens of thousands of views.
