On the afternoon of June 2nd, 2,411 students took the competency assessment exam for enrollment in grade 6 of Hanoi National University of Education (Hanoi) High School for the Gifted for the academic year 2026 - 2027.
This year is the 2nd year the school has enrolled with an expected target of 200 6th grade students. Thus, on average, 1 student out of 12 registered students is admitted.

Candidates taking the exam will take 3 assessment tests including: Comprehensive competency assessment; competency assessment tests for Math and Literature.
The exam format is objective multiple-choice combined with essays, candidates do the test directly on paper.
Dr. Tran Ba Trinh - Head of Training Department, Hanoi National University of Education said that the structure of the competency assessment exam has not changed compared to last year.
Specifically, the comprehensive competency assessment focuses on assessing academic aptitude, diversity, and potential of students; prioritizing compiling questions that students do not have the conditions to review, if they have solid knowledge at the elementary level and good thinking, they can still do it.
According to Mr. Trinh, the 6th grade aptitude test is not only an enrollment activity but also a meaningful first learning experience for students. Therefore, in addition to ensuring safety, seriousness, objectivity and fairness requirements, the School pays special attention to the psychological factors of students.
We have fully prepared facilities, personnel, organizational procedures, and at the same time trained the team to perform tasks in a professional, responsible and friendly spirit. The goal is for each student to be able to calmly and confidently show their abilities in the best conditions" - Mr. Trinh informed.
The school believes that aptitude education and comprehensive education are not opposed to each other but complement each other. A student with aptitude can only develop sustainably when they are comprehensively educated in qualities, abilities, physical health, spirit and social skills.
Therefore, Nang Khieu Secondary School still fully implements the 2018 General Education Program, while creating more opportunities for students to discover and develop their own strengths through learning, experiential and creative activities.
Our goal is not only to help students learn well in a certain field, but also to form people who are confident, compassionate, have self-study ability, know how to cooperate and are ready to adapt to the requirements of the future" - Mr. Trinh shared.
Nang Khieu Secondary School under Hanoi National University of Education is a public educational institution in the national education system and in the system of general schools of Cau Giay district.
The school is under the direct and comprehensive management of Hanoi National University of Education, under the professional direction of the District Department of Education and Training and under the state management in the area of Cau Giay District People's Committee.
Last year, the admission benchmark score to the school was 70/100 points.
