The Ministry of National Defense has just announced the plan to organize the enrollment of regular military universities and colleges in 2026 at academies and schools in the army.
In 2026, 23 academies and officer schools in the army participated in enrollment with 5,420 university and college training quotas for the military system, an increase of about 1,000 quotas compared to 2025.
Training institutions include many academies and key officer schools such as: Military Technical Academy, Military Medical Academy, Academy of Logistics, Naval Academy, Air Defense - Air Force Academy, Border Guard Academy, Military Science Academy and officer schools such as Army, Political, Engineering, Artillery, Information, Armored, Air Force.
Military academies and officer schools this year use many different admission combinations depending on the training major, but mainly revolve around Mathematics, Physics, Literature, Chemistry, Biology and Foreign Languages.
Common combinations include: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C01 (Literature, Math, Physics), C03 (Literature, Math, History), C04 (Literature, Math, Geography), D01 (Literature, Math, English), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English).
In which, many technical training schools such as the Military Technical Academy, Naval Academy, School of Information Officers or School of Armored Officers mainly consider combinations with Mathematics and Physics as the foundation; while some majors belonging to the social science group at institutions such as the Border Guard Academy or the School of Political Officers use combinations with Literature and Mathematics combined with History, Geography or Foreign Languages.
The regulation of admission combinations is to ensure compliance with the training characteristics of each major, and at the same time meet the input quality requirements of the system of academies and officer schools in the army.
According to the 2026 enrollment plan, the Ministry of National Defense will organize a separate competency assessment exam to serve the enrollment into military schools. The exam aims to assess the competence of high school students in accordance with the training requirements in the military environment.
It is expected that the exam will be held after candidates complete the high school graduation exam, around the third week of June 2026. The results of this exam will be used by academies and officer schools in admission consideration, in addition to other methods such as direct admission or considering high school graduation exam scores.
