Immediately after the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the Circular on the Regulations on Secondary School and High School Admissions, provinces and cities began to announce the third subject of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. Currently, 8 provinces and cities have announced the third subject.
8. Tien Giang
On the afternoon of January 18, the Department of Education and Training of Tien Giang province officially announced the third exam subject in the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year.
Accordingly, in addition to the two subjects of Literature and Math, candidates applying for admission to grade 10 public high schools in Tien Giang province will take a third subject, English.
According to the Department of Education and Training, the selection of the third subject, English, for the 10th grade entrance exam in Tien Giang province was widely consulted by the Department of Education and Training and received a high consensus from 100% of the units from the Department of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities in the province.
The Department of Education and Training of Tien Giang province also requested schools, parents and students to actively prepare and coordinate to widely disseminate information so that the entrance exam takes place smoothly, ensuring fairness and effectiveness.
7. Khanh Hoa
In Khanh Hoa province, it is expected that English will be selected as the third subject in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. Currently, the Department of Education and Training is drafting a plan and admission method to soon submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision, expected to be issued by the end of February.
6. Quang Nam
In Quang Nam province, the leader of the Department of Education and Training said that English is a suitable choice, helping to motivate and encourage students to increase their study of this subject in the context of international integration and making English the second language in schools.
Candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam in Quang Nam will take three subjects: math, literature, and English; the admission score is a combination of the exam score with the student's training/conduct and study/academic performance in four years of secondary school.
In Hanoi alone, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has not yet announced the third exam subject for the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year.
In recent years, Hanoi has maintained a stable entrance exam method for grade 10 public high schools with 3 subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language.
