Reasons for choosing the set of textbooks Connecting Knowledge with Common Life nationwide
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has announced the selection of the book set Connecting Knowledge with Life (Vietnam Education Publishing House) as a set of general education textbooks, used uniformly nationwide from the 2026-2027 school year.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the book set "Connecting Knowledge with Life" is selected based on ensuring synchronization and the highest level of readiness. Compared to the book sets developed in the period of textbook socialization, this is the most complete book set with subjects and educational activities at all three levels of primary, secondary and high school according to the regulations of the 2018 General Education Program. The unified use helps ensure intercommunication in content and limit disruptions in the process of organizing teaching.
This is also a set of books that is chosen a lot among existing textbook sets, so when organizing the use of the "Connecting Knowledge with Life" textbook set, it will have the least impact on schools, teachers and students.
In the process of transformation, the Ministry of Education and Training affirms that it does not deny the scientific and pedagogical and practical values of textbooks that have been compiled, evaluated and approved before. These textbooks are not removed but are transferred to the role of important reference materials and supporting materials. Schools and libraries continue to store and exploit them for teachers and students to refer to and compare and enrich teaching content.
4 key task groups
To effectively organize the implementation of the policy of using a unified national textbook set from the 2026-2027 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training focuses on implementing 4 groups of key tasks and solutions:
Review, evaluate and revise, and complete the book set "Connecting Knowledge with Life" to ensure the quality of science, pedagogy and standards when implementing and using uniformly. In parallel, organize training and fostering for teachers nationwide on how to approach and exploit the book set.
The Ministry also coordinates with localities to review and adjust the budget structure, gradually shifting from supporting the purchase of many sets of textbooks to directly supporting students, towards the goal of completing the free provision of textbooks by 2030.
Along with that, the Ministry implements the digitization of the entire set of unified textbooks and builds a common digital learning ecosystem, convenient and free access, serving teachers, students and people, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and promoting digital transformation in education.
Finally, strengthening communication is an important task to create social consensus, helping parents, teachers and society understand correctly and fully about the implementation of the policy of using a unified set of textbooks nationwide.
Affirming the scientific nature of textbooks
Previously, there was some false information, distorting the history content in the textbook "Connecting Knowledge with Life", creating false assessments of the content of the textbook. Among them, the typical information is: the History - Geography textbook of grade 5 only has content teaching about Nguyen Anh (Gia Long) but does not teach about Quang Trung - the Tay Son movement; leading to unfounded denial of the historical content in the textbook.
The Ministry of Education and Training has organized a review and affirmed that the view that the textbook set "Connecting Knowledge with Life" does not teach or underestimates Quang Trung - Tay Son movement is distorting information and shows signs of slander; the fact that the History - Geography textbook of grade 5 learns the lesson "The birth of the Nguyen Dynasty" is consistent with the historical flow and program objectives, cannot be separated from the overall content learned in previous grades and will continue to be learned in later grades.
The Ministry of Education and Training has issued a document requesting the Ministry of Public Security and functional agencies to verify and clarify the motives and purposes of creating and spreading false information and comments, distorting historical content in textbooks to strictly handle violations (if any) in order to ensure political security in the field of education and training.
At the same time, the Ministry requested people not to share information or make unfounded or baseless comments related to content that is not true to historical facts.
