On November 19, Can Tho University hosted the 7th ASEAN +3 Principal Conference in 2025. This is one of the most prestigious high-level forums of the AUN Network for university leaders in the region.
The conference aims to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions in the ASEAN region and the three partner countries (Japan, Korea and China) through high-level foreign affairs activities between university leaders. The event creates a strategic forum for principals to exchange vision, share university governance experiences, and shape the development of higher education in the context of regional integration and global transformation.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Van Khoi hoped to cooperate more deeply with universities in the ASEAN+3 bloc through student exchange programs, lecturers and scientists; building joint training programs and inter-national research projects; developing laboratories, joint research centers on strategic technology, ... Accordingly, the city is committed to creating all favorable conditions to expand cooperation in education - research - innovation between schools in the region.

Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) - assessed that the 7th ASEAN +3 Principal Conference is an important forum, facilitating high-level dialogues between university leaders. From there, schools can set long-term strategies to solve problems not only in each country but also in the region and globally.
At the same time, schools also have the opportunity to set up specific international cooperation programs, training programs, research, student and lecturer exchanges, and will expand the unit's international cooperation network with increasingly high-quality partners in the world.
As the first higher education institution in Vietnam to host the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Can Tho University Council - hopes that the conference will help demonstrate and affirm the role of universities in Vietnam in general and Can Tho University in particular in the network; create connections to carry out cooperation in training new generations of young people, meet the professional needs of each individual as well as contribute to the overall development of the country. In addition, the conference will promote cooperation programs, especially current issues of concern such as climate change, green development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, etc.
