On the morning of May 21, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province worked with Foreign Trade University on the implementation of the investment project to build a school in Bac Ninh.
Foreign Trade University is a high-quality human resource training institution for the State, but currently the school's facilities and campus in 3 campuses (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh) are still limited.
It is expected that within the next 10 years, the scale of the whole school will continue to increase. Therefore, expanding the training facilities of Foreign Trade University in Bac Ninh province is appropriate and necessary.
According to the Decision approving detailed planning tasks in Decision No. 127/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province dated February 20, 2025, the detailed planning area of Foreign Trade University is in Dong Nguyen ward, Tu Son city, with an area of about 33.66 hectares.
Currently, Foreign Trade University has coordinated with the Bac Ninh Institute of Architectural Planning to develop a detailed planning project and is focusing on preparing bidding procedures. The project is expected to start construction in early 2027; the implementation cost of phase 1 is about 1,150 billion VND.
At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Principal of Foreign Trade University, suggested that the provincial leaders support funding and carry out compensation, site clearance, resettlement and investment in technical infrastructure to serve the project, creating favorable conditions for the school to quickly implement investment preparation procedures on schedule.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized the province's policy in attracting branded universities to contribute to training high-quality human resources, creating momentum for the overall socio-economic development of the province.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed with the policy of implementing the Foreign Trade University project in Bac Ninh province.
At the same time, it is recommended that Foreign Trade University advise the Ministry of Education and Training to issue a document requesting the province to support the project implementation, in which, it is necessary to estimate the cost of supporting site clearance, fences, trees, sidewalks, and lighting systems for the project.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Finance to summarize the contents so that the provincial People's Committee will send a written submission to the provincial People's Council to promulgate a resolution on policies to attract investment universities in the province. This will be the basis for Foreign Trade University to implement the next steps.
The project to reorganize Bac Ninh province and Bac Giang province to establish Bac Ninh province clearly states the plan to organize universities and colleges (under central agencies) located in the province.
Accordingly, based on the plan, the new Bac Ninh province will continue to develop University Zones 1 and 2 to form a national and international center for training, scientific research and technology application, with a total area of 1,115 hectares.
