Adjusting the New Year holiday schedule for students in 2026

Schools simultaneously adjusted the Tet holiday schedule and arranged a make-up study schedule for students after the plan for 4 consecutive days off for the New Year was approved.

On December 25, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs on civil servants and public employees having 4 consecutive days off for the New Year, the Tet holiday from January 1 to 4, 2026.

Of which, 2 consecutive days off are due to swapping with working days and 2 days off per week.

Immediately after the New Year holiday schedule was finalized, the University of Transport Technology announced a 4-day Tet holiday schedule for students, from Thursday (January 1, 2026) to Sunday (January 4, 2026).

The resumption of study is on Monday, January 5, 2026, according to the issued schedule. Students with a Friday schedule (January 2, 2026) will have make-up classes on Saturday (January 10, 2026).

During the holiday, the school recommends that students: Have a safe, healthy, and civilized holiday; strictly comply with the law, especially the Traffic Law; Raise vigilance, prevent fraud via social networks; Monitor study schedules and return to school at the prescribed time.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade issued a notice to adjust the holiday schedule for civil servants, employees and students. Accordingly, the whole school will have 4 consecutive days off from January 1 to January 4. Officials and employees will return to work on January 10, 2026.

The University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) has also announced that students will have 4 days off for the New Year. The school's lecturers will arrange a compensatory teaching schedule for students according to the teaching plan for the school year.

The school further noted that in case the practical lessons have a schedule on January 2, 2026, January 3, 2026, and January 4, 2026 and at the same time cannot arrange a make-up class schedule, students will follow the announcement of the department in charge of training or the lecturer in charge of teaching.

The University of Commerce announced that students will have 4 consecutive days off for the New Year and will have make-up classes on January 17, 2026. The school noted that the Training Management Department, the International Training Institute, and the Postgraduate Training Institute will have specific announcements on the adjustment of the timetable due to changes in the 2026 New Year holiday plan (if any).

Meanwhile, Nguyen Tat Thanh University only announces students with 4 days off for the New Year, without information about make-up classes. In addition, the school requires the staff, lecturers, and students to ensure security and safety during the holiday.
