On May 10 and 11, 2026, Phenikaa University coordinated with the Hanoi City Traditional Medicine Association to organize the 13th Congress of Delegates of the Hanoi City Traditional Medicine Association, term 2026-2031.
The event gathered more than 600 delegates who are industry leaders, experts, scientists, traditional medicine doctors in the field of traditional medicine. With the theme "Inheritance - Innovation - Standardization - Development", the event also expanded exchanges on the role of traditional medicine and integrated medicine in the current healthcare system.
Within the framework of the program, the Congress summarized the activities of the 2021–2026 term, discussed the direction of activities for the new period, and at the same time elected the Executive Committee of the Hanoi City Traditional Medicine Association, term XIII, term 2026–2031.
Many contents were discussed around the development trend of traditional medicine in the context of the increasingly concerned need for comprehensive health care; along with issues of standardizing training, strengthening scientific research, applying technology and improving professional quality in the field of traditional medicine.

At the Congress, Dr. Nguyen Duy Tuan, Vice Rector of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Phenikaa University, was elected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City Traditional Medicine Association, term XIII, 2026–2031. This information shows the increasingly deep participation of Phenikaa University's team of experts in professional activities, training and research in the field of traditional medicine.

Speaking at the Congress, TTND. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Xuan Canh emphasized Hanoi's role as a major center of traditional medicine in the country, and at the same time said that traditional medicine is facing a stronger requirement for innovation in research, training and professional standardization.
Traditional medicine not only carries historical and cultural values but also has great potential in science, economy and community health care if invested methodically and connected with modern health systems" - TTND. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Xuan Canh shared.
Compared to previous Congresses, the 13th Congress not only focused on consolidating the organization, developing the successor team, improving the quality of professional activities and promoting the application of science and technology in the field of traditional medicine.
In addition, representatives of the Hanoi City Traditional Medicine Association highly appreciated the companionship of Phenikaa University in the organization of the Congress, and at the same time emphasized the role of training and research institutions in promoting traditional medicine development towards standardization, modernization and suitability for health care needs in the new context.
Dr. Nguyen Duy Tuan shared that in the context of healthcare increasingly towards prevention and personalization, the connection between universities, hospitals and professional associations plays a particularly important role in developing traditional medicine sustainably. In which, universities are places for training and research, hospitals are environments for practice and clinical applications, while professional associations play a role in connecting expertise, updating knowledge and orienting industry development.
When the three parties coordinate closely, a synchronous training - research - practice ecosystem will be formed, contributing to improving the quality of human resources and the quality of medical examination and treatment.
In the development strategy of the Health Science sector, Phenikaa University orients training in Traditional Medicine in the direction of integrating the foundation of folk medicine, modern science and applied technology. Students are not only equipped with professional knowledge and clinical skills, but also have access to research thinking, evidence-based medicine, foreign languages and the ability to apply technology in modern medical practice.
