Not using phones even during recess, students become more dynamic and sociable
On July 10, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the conclusion of Director Nguyen Van Hieu at the meeting after the merger. In particular, Mr. Hieu assigned the Student and Student Affairs Department to study and advise on a proposed plan not to allow students to use mobile phones during recess and during educational activities at school, except in cases where the subject teacher allows them to serve their studies. This policy is agreed by many parents and teachers to limit dependence on equipment and increase connectivity between students.

In fact, in many schools such as Truong Chinh High School (HCMC), the regulation prohibiting the use of phones has brought clear results. Students proactively participate in outdoor activities, sports, clubs, and chat with each other more instead of leaning on the phone like before. They shared that they feel happier, more open and connected with friends when they are no longer dependent on devices.
On the parents' side, parents also strongly support this policy, and highly appreciate the flexibility when the school still arranges landline phones for students to contact for emergency situations. Schools such as Nguyen Thuong Hien High School have long applied this regulation, with a clear monitoring mechanism and support when needed. The Board of Directors affirmed that thanks to this policy, the learning environment becomes more active, vibrant and healthy. See more...

Verifying the case of students paying for martial arts classes to get exercise in Dak Lak
Recently, the Principal of Phan Dang Luu High School (Dak Lak) confirmed that he is verifying and clarifying the petition of parents about two physical education teachers organizing extra classes in martial arts in the school, collecting a fee of 2 million VND/student/year. Parents believe that martial arts students will be given priority for assessment of achievement in physical education, causing financial pressure on disadvantaged families.
Some parents were upset and said that this situation has been going on for many years, students register to study martial arts only to be assessed as achieving physical fitness, and not even really studying. A parent with two children studying at school confirmed this reality, but before that, few people dared to speak up because they were worried about affecting their children.
After receiving the report, the school stopped teaching martial arts in the school grounds to avoid fighting. The case is currently under further verification, and the results are expected this Sunday. See more...
