Parents complain about too much class fund, Ward People's Committee intervenes to clarify
Kim Lien Ward People's Committee has inspected and clarified parents' reflections on Kim Lien Elementary School collecting many funds and linked tuition fees. Parents believe that the 4B grade parents' fund is being collected high and there are linked tuition fees even though tuition fees and lunch support have been exempted.

Through verification, the Ward People's Committee said that the first-semester fund was collected by the parents' association of class 4B and has been spent on many activities, publicly announced at the parents' meeting, and more than 8.8 million VND remained to be transferred to the second semester. The expected collection of the second-semester fund of 1.4 million VND was due to the parents' association's arbitrary announcement on the Zalo group, without the consent of the homeroom teacher; this amount has not been collected to date and the parents' association has admitted its mistake and asked to learn from experience.
Regarding linked tuition fees, the Ward People's Committee affirmed that class 4B does not collect the reflected amount; supplementary English and STEM Robotics fees are all according to agreements, with registration letters from parents. The Ward requests the school to strengthen supervision, not to let homeroom teachers or parents' committees arbitrarily collect fees outside regulations. See more...
10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City, students have full extra classes
The public 10th grade entrance exam is increasingly competitive, causing many 9th grade students in Ho Chi Minh City to have to study extra classes densely, from weekdays to weekends. Many students study 5-6 sessions/week, study until late at night to practice questions and consolidate knowledge, while parents also accept large expenses with the expectation that their children will be admitted to public schools.
The pressure is increasing when only about 65-70% of secondary school graduates have a grade 10 public school slot, the rest have to study in private schools, continuing education centers or vocational training. The prolonged high intensity of study makes many students tired, psychologically stressed, and lack time for rest and exercise.

Secondary schools said that they have proactively organized free tutoring, counseling and orienting admissions suitable to students' abilities. Principals of schools recommend that parents should not let their children take extra classes indiscriminately. See more...
