Control school kitchens well before the new school year
Hanoi currently has more than 3,550 school kitchens serving boarding students, but in the first 6 months of 2025, 68 kitchens violated hygiene regulations; more than 70% of food outlets around the school could not trace their origin. This situation makes parents worried, especially when up to 20% of kitchen staff do not strictly comply with regulations on personal hygiene.
Hanoi has spent more than VND3,000 billion to support primary boarding meals for the 2025-2026 school year. However, to promote the policy effectively, it is necessary to strengthen supervision of suppliers, strictly manage food inspection activities, store food samples and handle illegal street vending points around schools.
The Hanoi Department of Health plans to apply QR codes to trace the origin, install surveillance cameras in the collective kitchen, and assign the People's Committees of wards and communes to handle street vendors. Communication also needs to promote propaganda to parents, students and businesses to ensure safe and clean school lunches from the beginning of the school year. See more...
