Nearly 27% of candidates do not register for university admission wishes
As of 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2025, the whole country had 849,544 candidates registered for university and college admissions, accounting for about 73.23% of the total 1,160,033 candidates taking the high school graduation exam. Nearly 27% of candidates did not register for admission.
The total number of admission wishes recorded is 7,615,560, on average each candidate registered about 8.96 wishes. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the registration system is operating stably, however, there are still some candidates who have submitted applications near the end of the admission period, so the system is continuing to process them.
Compared to last year, the number of candidates applying for admission increased by 115,892 students, due to expanding the group of candidates applying to vocational colleges. See more...
Minister Nguyen Kim Son responds to the proposal for a shared textbook set

Voters in Hung Yen province proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training issue a set of general textbooks nationwide. Regarding this content, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that Resolution 88 of the National Assembly has clearly stated the general education program stipulating the requirements for quality and ability that students need to achieve after each level of education.
Along with that are compulsory fields and educational content for all students nationwide. According to the Minister, although textbooks have different materials, expressions and teaching methods, they must meet program standards and requirements. Using different sets of textbooks does not affect the content of knowledge that students absorb.
The Ministry of Education and Training has issued a Circular guiding the selection of appropriate textbooks in each locality and school. The Ministry of Education and Training responds to voters in Hanoi about extra teaching and learning
Hanoi voters recommend that the Government strengthen inspection and supervision of extra teaching and learning activities after Circular 29/2024/TT-BGDDT takes effect from February 14, 2025, to ensure that extra teaching is for the right purpose and meets practical needs. At the same time, voters proposed to have appropriate treatment policies for teachers, especially teachers in remote areas, and to supplement regulations related to retired teachers, students, and tutors participating in extra teaching.

The Ministry of Education and Training said it has implemented many measures to manage tutoring activities, improve the quality of main curriculum and increase comprehensive educational experience for students. The Ministry also advised the Prime Minister to issue Directive 17/CT-TTg dated June 6, 2025 on teaching 2 sessions/day and organizing summer activities, implemented according to the direction of General Secretary To Lam to limit the widespread situation of extra teaching and meet the needs of individual development of students.
The Ministry of Education and Training will continue to coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to effectively implement Circular 29/2024/TT-BGDDT, and at the same time advise the Government to include additional teaching and learning services in the list of conditional business lines, in order to strengthen more transparent and clear management of this activity. Lecturer owed money by school for a decade: Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee directs inspection
On July 25, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that lecturers at Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College were owed nearly 2.8 billion VND, including overtime tuition, allowances and official salaries. The incident lasted for many years, causing serious difficulties in the lives of lecturers.
Some lecturers working at the school were upset when they learned that guest lecturers from other units were paid 285 million VND, while lecturers at the school, main lecturers, and student managers were owed nearly 1 billion VND for overtime teaching.

In response to the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province directed the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments to review, inspect and report the results and problems if any, before August 10, 2025 for the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct in accordance with regulations.
