Resolution 71: Increasing the budget for education, adding great incentives for teachers
Resolution 71/NQ-TW recently issued by the Politburo is considered a " strategic milestone" for Vietnamese education, creating a solid political and legal foundation to make education a driving force for national development. Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga - Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society had an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper about the breakthroughs of Resolution 71/NQ-TW (Resolution 71) recently issued by the Politburo.

Ms. Nga affirmed that this document has many new and breakthrough points such as: building a national target program on education, establishing a national scholarship fund, a policy of exempting tuition fees for high school, providing free textbooks from 2030. At the same time, the Resolution also resolves "bottlenecks" in regional differences, policies for teachers and inadequacies in programs and textbooks.
An important highlight is that the Politburo affirmed that it will spend at least 20% of the state budget on education, considering this a strategic investment for the future. However, the effectiveness of budget use needs to be prioritized through a transparent allocation mechanism, linking accountability, prioritizing disadvantaged areas, improving teacher treatment and training quality. Along with that, the Resolution encourages socialization, mobilizes resources from the community and businesses to increase investment efficiency, ensuring that the budget really reaches students and teachers.
At the university level, the Resolution sets a goal of developing 3-5 elite universities according to the international-class research model. These will be the "loads" in training talents, researching, transferring technology and connecting internationally. See more...

Reorganizing classrooms in schools devastated by storm No. 5
Storm No. 5 caused severe damage to many schools in Ha Tinh, causing dozens of classrooms to have their roofs blown off and severely damaged right before the new school year. At Dinh Ban Primary School 1 and 2, 8 classrooms in both facilities had their roofs completely blown off and could not be used. The school is forced to arrange temporary classes in department rooms or arrange extracurricular classes.
A similar situation also occurred at Son Loc Secondary School, where a 2-storey building with 13 functional and practice rooms and a library had its roof blown off and was severely damaged. Because the project has been degraded for more than 26 years and is not safe for repair, the school has to teach vegetarian practice or move equipment to the theory classroom. Meanwhile, Hoa Lien Secondary School also lost 4 classrooms on the 2nd floor because of the blown roof, which could only be temporarily used when it was sunny, and could not study when it was raining due to leakage.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, storm No. 5 damaged and blew off roofs at 47 schools across the province. To overcome the consequences, the locality proposed that the Government support more than 2,000 billion VND, of which 200 billion VND is reserved for the repair of schools, medical facilities and culture, to ensure stable teaching and learning conditions.
