Teachers in mountainous areas in Dak Nong expect salaries in the new Draft Law on Teachers

PHAN TUẤN |

Dak Nong - The Draft Law on Teachers with the proposal to increase salaries is being expected by teachers in remote areas to have a worthy treatment and also to retain talented people.

New draft policy

The draft Law on Teachers is being discussed by the National Assembly at the 9th Session. In which, there is a proposal to rank teachers' salaries at the highest level in the administrative and career system.

In addition to the basic salary, teachers also receive preferential allowances and other allowances depending on the nature of their work and the region. This is to ensure the legitimate rights of workers in the education sector.

In Dak Nong, there are more than 11,000 teachers at all levels. Teachers in Dak Nong believe that the Draft Law on Teachers is not only a new legal document but also a belief and expectation for a real change in working conditions and life for leaders.

If the new salary policy and preferential regimes are legalized, it will help retain teachers in ethnic minority, mountainous and border areas. These are difficult areas, and have always been in a serious shortage of teachers.

The new policy is also one of the pillar solutions to successfully implement the goal of fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training that the Party and State are aiming for.

Mr. Nguyen The Hiet - Principal of Le Huu Trac Secondary and High School (in a remote commune of Dak Ngo, Tuy Duc district) - said that the motivation for the job comes from passion and security for life.

"If the Draft Law on Teachers is passed, the basic salary will be improved, teachers can feel secure in sticking with the school. From there, teachers spend more time on expertise and innovate teaching methods" - Mr. Nguyen The Hiet added.

Belief and expectation for a change

In reality, at many schools in remote areas in Dak Nong province such as Tuy Duc, Dak Glong, Dak Song... there are many teachers who have to travel dozens of kilometers of mountainous roads, cross streams, and pass pass passes to class every day.

It is worth mentioning that there are many teachers who have been attached to the career of sowing in the highlands all their lives but their lives are still very difficult. The salary increase and additional allowances in the region is a fair recognition of the silent efforts of teachers in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Phung - a teacher at Le Quy Don Secondary School in Duc Manh Commune, Dak Mil District - said: "If the salary increase policy is legalized, teachers' lives will be less difficult. From there, teachers can feel more secure in their position in class and be more dedicated to their students.

In a disadvantaged area and a poor district like Dak Glong, teachers still have to fill many roles, from teaching to managing and supporting students' lives. If the Law on Teachers is promulgated, I believe that the treatment policy and working conditions will be improved" - Ms. Dinh Thi Hang, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Glong district, shared.

According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province, attracting, retaining and developing a team of teachers with strong expertise is the key to effectively implementing the new general education program.

This salary increase proposal is moderately encouraging and is a long-term commitment of the State to ensure life. Thereby, creating peace of mind for teachers, especially those who are living in remote areas.

"When the salary policy goes hand in hand with team training and fostering, the education sector will have a solid foundation to comprehensively improve quality" - Mr. Phan Thanh Hai said.
