Hanoi guides 6th grade admission to high-quality schools

Vân Trang |

High-quality secondary schools in Hanoi are organized to assess their 6th grade enrollment capacity.

According to the first-level enrollment plan of the Hanoi People's Committee, in the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi will enroll about 161,000 students in grade 6. Notably, districts, towns and cities will regulate the form of student capacity assessment (if any).

For schools that consider admission according to the admission route prescribed by the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; continue to use the online admission support system throughout the city.

For secondary schools admitted to grade 6 not following the route (schools recognized by the City People's Committee as high-quality schools; private schools) with more students than the quota can apply for admission based on the criteria of using learning outcomes, primary school training results or student competency assessment results in the following forms: ask - answer, write, presentation...

High-quality secondary schools, if admission is based on the criteria of using the capacity assessment results, must choose a reasonable capacity assessment time, report to the Department of Education and Training for approval by the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, and complete admission no later than July 12.

Private schools will enroll students immediately after the end of the school year; starting from May 31 to July 12. Schools update the list of students admitted to the electronic score book software no later than July 23.

Except for high-quality grade 6 schools, primary schools including kindergartens, preschools, public grade 1 and grade 6 will apply the admission method according to the admission route prescribed by the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; continue to use the online admission support system.

Online admission time:

From July 1 to July 3 (for grade 1);

From July 4 to July 6 (five-year-old children enter kindergarten);

From July 7 to July 9 (for grade 6);

Direct admission from July 12 to July 18.
