On July 31, Mr. Bui Van Phuong - a teacher at Huu Khuong Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - said that the flash flood that occurred at the end of July surrounded the school with floodwaters, and the entire boarding house and classroom were deeply submerged in mud. Many construction items were skewed, collapsed, and items were damaged and washed away.
"Student storage items such as textbooks, blankets, clothes, and cabinets are almost all broken. Some classrooms were flooded up to half the wall, the boarding rooms were covered with mud, many students only had a few sets of wet clothes left" - Mr. Phuong shared.

Images at the scene show the school yard covered with mud, broken tables, chairs, and beds, mixed in the garbage after the flood. Many levels of houses are tilted, toilets and shared kitchens are skewed. In the boarding rooms, dirty blankets and mud- covering pillows were left everywhere.

The school's principal Nguyen Viet Thong choked up and said: "This school year, the school has 203 students, most of whom are children of Thai, Kho Mu, and H'Mong ethnic groups, and their family background is already very difficult.
Now they have lost all their books, clothes, and school supplies. The students' families are also struggling with floods, and the school does not have the funds to take care of them. Without equipment and books, students cannot enter the new school year.

According to Mr. Thong, what they need most right now are textbooks (books on Connecting Knowledge and Life), school supplies, blankets, clothes and boarding equipment.
"The school hopes that agencies, organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists will pay attention and support them so that they can enter the new school year" - Mr. Thong said enthusiastically.
