The Government has just issued Resolution No. 281/NQ-CP promulgating the Action Program to implement Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.
The Government requires the Ministry of Education and Training to review and complete the general education program, increase the duration of science, technology, and IT subjects. Ensure the provision of a unified set of textbooks nationwide from the 2026-2027 school year; implement a roadmap to 2030 to provide free textbooks to all students.
Thus, from the next school year, students nationwide will unify the use of a set of textbooks, different from the current system of 3 different sets of textbooks. High schools are selected for 1 of 3 sets of books to teach.
Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc (Binh Chanh commune), whose child is in grade 7, assessed that using a set of books will help parents reduce the cost burden at the beginning of the new school year, when in addition to textbooks, there are many fees at school.
"The cost of buying textbooks each year is quite expensive, especially for families with two or three children attending school. If there is a unified set of books and free support from 2030, parents will have a much easier burden," Ms. Ngoc expressed.
At Binh Tri Dong B Secondary School, this year the school welcomed nearly 900 more 6th grade students, bringing the total scale of the school to nearly 1,600 students. This is a new school that has been in use since the previous school year.
Principal Ho Thanh Danh said that the school community has high expectations for this new school year, when many policies to support the education sector are issued and implemented.
According to him, this will be an important motivation, helping the team feel secure in sticking together and contributing to the cause of educating people.
"There is currently a policy to unify a set of textbooks from the next school year and make free textbooks for students from 2030, hopefully this will contribute to reducing the cost burden for parents, creating more fairness in access to knowledge", Mr. Danh said.
Ms. Hua Thi Diem Tram - Principal of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School said that the school's pedagogical team is ready to learn to meet teaching requirements.
"If the book series is unified, we are willing to learn, but the important thing is not to cost parents and students. Free textbooks is a very happy thing and a great support for everyone," Ms. Tram shared.
