On March 19, according to Lao Dong's source, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Lang Son province has just issued a document guiding the pilot organization of teaching and learning 5 days/week for a number of units in the province.
From March 17, the pilot program will be implemented at 24 educational institutions, including 21 high schools and 3 continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education centers.
The pilot units meet the requirements of facilities and a team of teachers to ensure enhanced teaching.
The pilot period lasts from March 17 to March 30, 2025, with students participating in studying in the mornings and some afternoons from Monday to Friday.
Each session consists of 4-5 periods, ensuring that the total number of periods/week is not lower than the regulations of the main curriculum.
In addition to regular school hours, schools' leaders schedule time to organize supplementary educational activities, review and foster excellent students.
The pilot model of teaching 5 days/week is expected to help students have more time to self-study, participate in extracurricular activities and develop comprehensively.
For teachers, optimizing working time can improve teaching quality. The results of the pilot program will be an important basis for the Department of Education and Training to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of this model, thereby considering widespread implementation across the province in the coming time.
