More than 10 years of working in the education sector and many great achievements

Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh's real name is Nguyen Chau Sa, born on May 26, 1927, in Sa Dec, the granddaughter of revolutionary martyr Phan Chu Trinh, from Tien Phuoc, Quang Nam province.

At the age of 18, she participated in the August Revolution in Saigon city and then she participated in the Women's Union to save the country as the Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon Women's Party Committee.

After the successful historic Ho Chi Minh campaign in 1975, completely liberating the South and the country was unified, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was elected by the National Assembly as Minister of Education of Vietnam from July 26, 1975 to February 16, In 1987,

When Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh became Minister of Education, the country had only been unified for more than a year. Education in the two regions is very different. The education system in the North is 10 years old, serving the cause of building Socialism. The education system in the South is 12 years. Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was the one who laid a solid foundation for Vietnam's education to unify the two regions of the South and the North after liberation. To do that, she has proposed many policies and measures. Within just 2 years, 1.4 million people, accounting for 95% of the illiteracy left by the old regime, have been eliminated. For general education, she kept the education system unchanged for 12 years, accepting all teachers from kindergarten to university who have served at My Nguoi school.

At the same time, mobilize human resources in the Northern education system to support Southern education. She encouraged teachers in the North to be ready to volunteer to the South, to go to newly liberated areas to develop schools from kindergarten to high school.

She introduced the idea of gender equality and no discrimination between men and women in education. In school, male and female students must have equal rights.

She initiated the opening of schools, calling them high-end kindergartens and later developing them into boarding schools for ethnic minorities. The goal is to ensure education in all regions, especially in disadvantaged mountainous areas, is uniform.

Former Minister of Education Nguyen Thi Binh also coordinated with the Ministry of Forestry to launch the planting of 150 million trees in 10 years. In just the first year, schools have planted more than 25 million trees. Most schools across the country have covered their crops with green, contributing to making the country green and beautiful.

Ms. Binh also cares about the work of educating and guiding students' careers. She dared to face socio-economic difficulties after the great victory in the spring of 1975, dared to propose many creative policies and many effective measures to bring about national unity in the education sector, successfully implementing the education reform according to Resolution 14 of the central government.
