On November 28, Mr. Le Van Thanh (father of the female student who was beaten by a group of people in Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province) said that his daughter had to stop studying for a year because she had to stop treating a cervical spine injury for longer than the prescribed time off from school.
According to Mr. Thanh, it has been more than 50 days since the incident, his daughter's health has not yet recovered, her neck is still in a cast, and she still has difficulty walking. Meanwhile, the regulation only allows a maximum of 45 days off from school, so she will have to go back to school next school year (2025 - 2026).
“Every time I see my child in pain and dizzy, I cry. My child is the class monitor and is a very good student. When he saw a group of friends fighting, he intervened to stop them, but was beaten up by the group. Now he has to endure both physical and mental pain because his studies have been put on hold,” Thanh shared.
According to Mr. Thanh, the authorities have yet to reach a conclusion on the case, even though his family has provided full information and video of the assault.
“I just hope that the authorities will quickly come to a conclusion, handle it seriously and not let anything go unpunished. Because this is a very serious incident, it needs to be a deterrent to avoid similar incidents from happening,” said Mr. Thanh.
Speaking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Dang Van Hung - Principal of Nong Cong 2 High School (Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province) confirmed that after the incident of a female 11th grade student of the school being beaten by a group, it has been more than 50 days, but the female student has not been able to return to school because her health has not recovered. "According to regulations, regardless of the reason, if more than 45 days of absence are missed, the student is forced to repeat the class the following year," Mr. Hung informed.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, according to verification by Nong Cong 2 High School (in Nong Cong District, Thanh Hoa Province), on October 4, a female student of class 10A6, while returning from school, saw a female student of class 10A5 walking behind her talking and laughing with another friend. The female student of class 10A6 thought that her friend was talking badly about her, leading to an argument. On the afternoon of October 5, when school was out, the two female students continued to argue and quarrel. Afterwards, the school security broke up the fight and all the students went home. However, when they reached Tan Phuc Commune, a fight broke out.
As a result, an 11th grade female student (when she intervened to stop a group of friends from fighting) was beaten up and seriously injured (broken cervical vertebrae), and had to be transferred to Viet Duc Hospital for treatment.
After a period of treatment at Viet Duc Hospital, the female student was transferred to Hop Luc General Hospital (in Thanh Hoa) for further monitoring and treatment. After a period of treatment, the female student was taken home by her family for further monitoring and physical therapy. Currently, the female student's health has not yet recovered.
Nong Cong 2 High School has decided to suspend 3 students who directly participated in the beating for 2 weeks, from November 19 to December 2.
