On April 1st, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that recently, the situation of students using electric bicycles and electric motorbikes with structural changes and power increases (modifications) is common, posing a risk of traffic unsafety. Arbitrarily intervening in technical systems can change the design speed, affecting the operation, braking and control of vehicles.
In order to ensure traffic order and safety for school-age children, the Traffic Police Department has directed teams and stations to coordinate with local police to conduct actual inspections at schools, combined with propaganda, reminders and signing commitments with schools, parents and students.
Typically, on March 31, An Suong Traffic Police Team coordinated with Hoc Mon Commune Police to inspect Ho Thi Bi High School and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School.
Through inspection, at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School, there are more than 270 students using bicycles and electric bicycles; Ho Thi Bi High School has more than 700 students using motorbikes, mopeds, electric motorbikes and electric bicycles to go to school.
The results showed that most vehicles ensured the manufacturer's design, and no cases of modification, structural changes or power increases contrary to regulations were detected.
However, functional forces discovered 2 cases of students of Ho Thi Bi High School driving motorbikes over 50cc when they did not meet the regulations.
These cases have been recorded and handled, and families have been notified to coordinate education. The school also committed to strengthening management and preventing recurrence of violations.
According to the Traffic Police Department, most students comply well with regulations when using electric vehicles, but there are still some cases of violations related to large displacement motorcycles. In the coming time, the unit will continue to strengthen inspections, coordinate with the education sector and localities to propagate and handle, in order to ensure traffic safety in schools.
