Previously, the Can Tho Department of Education and Training also directed educational institutions to ensure food safety, especially for schools that organize semi-boarding meals and canteens; coordinate with local health departments to prevent epidemics when students return to school.
The plan to implement the School Health Program for the period 2026-2035 of Can Tho City People's Committee (issued in July 2026) has identified a breakthrough of striving for 100% of students to be checked, health checked or disease screening at least once each school year.
According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, all results will be updated into the Electronic Health Record, interconnected with the National Population Database, marking a major step forward in applying technology and digital transformation to manage school health.
Can Tho also focuses on perfecting mechanisms and policies, prioritizing the allocation of human resources, investing in facilities, promoting mental health care and replicating safe school models, improving health, and school meals ensuring nutrition associated with physical activity.
