Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company - Canfoco (stock code: CAN) has just sent a report explaining to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) regarding the destruction of raw materials and violating finished products and the decision to temporarily suspend the operation of the factory in Hai Phong.
More than 130 tons of violating raw materials were destroyed and not put into production
In a report sent to the Hanoi Stock Exchange, Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company said that it had destroyed all more than 130 tons of violating raw materials, not put into production, and not supplied to the market.
According to the enterprise, on September 8, 2025, PC03 Department of Hai Phong City Police discovered two cars of Le Ba Doanh and Trinh Ha Viet carrying a total of 1,274.5 kg of slaughtered lean pork, without skin, without internal organs, tested positive for African Pork Diarrhea virus. The entire shipment on the two cars was completely destroyed, not yet put into production, according to the record of destroying exhibits and assets infected with viruses and bacteria made on November 19, 2025.
According to information from PC03 Hai Phong City Police, this lean pork was collected floating and sold to Bui Duc Trong, a supplier of the Company. Based on the recommendations of functional agencies, on September 8, 2025, the Company cordoned off all raw materials purchased from Mr. Bui Duc Trong's household about a week earlier, from September 03-07, 2025, to conduct testing.
Test results showed that in the Company's warehouse, there were 132,379.5 kg of lean pork tested positive for African pork cholera; 4,141.3 kg of sausage and 3,285.6 kg of special sausage produced from lean pork of Bui Duc Trong sold to the Company also tested positive for African pork cholera; 13,661.8 kg of frozen pork skin of Bui Duc Trong sold to the Company tested positive for Salmonella spp bacteria. For imported raw materials, 8,205 kg of frozen chicken skin and 6,030 kg of frozen ground chicken meat also tested positive for Salmonella spp bacteria.
The company affirmed that all 132 tons of raw pig meat violated regulations and the above-mentioned shipments were blocked immediately upon discovery of the incident and destroyed afterwards, not put into production and not supplied to the market.
14,000 boxes of leftover pate destroyed
Ha Long Canned Food also said that the Company has requested the destruction of all inventory shipments related to pork raw materials, including products using domestic raw materials and imported raw materials.
The products destroyed include 134 boxes of Pate Cot Den type 90g/box and 156 boxes of Pate Cot Den type 150g/box, totaling nearly 14,000 boxes, equivalent to about 1.7 tons of finished pate, according to the destruction record made on November 19, 2025.
The company affirmed that these are finished products still in stock at Ha Long - Hai Phong Canned Food Factory, not produced from the above-mentioned violating raw materials, which have been tested for negative results with African Pork Diarrhea virus according to the inspection conclusion dated October 6, 2025 of functional agencies.
Production temporarily suspended due to recall and suspension of quality certification
At the time of the incident (October-October 2025 period), CAN did not disclose information within 24 hours as prescribed.
The Company assesses that the destruction does not disrupt production of the entire system, the value of destroyed raw materials has not significantly affected cash flow and business plan (considered based on total revenue scale, costs, operating capacity). Production and business activities are still maintained normally. Therefore, the Company believes that the event has not reached the level of "significant impact" as prescribed in Circular 96/2020/TT-BTC.
However, after the press and social networking sites reported on the incident, many customers and partners took action to request a return of goods and stop cooperation. The company believes that the incident has gone beyond control, affecting reputation and production and business operations.
Regarding the short-term suspension of production operations at Ha Long - Hai Phong Canned Food Factory, the Company said that it has implemented the suspension from January 12, 2026 because the ISO management certification system was revoked according to the decision dated January 10, 2026 and the FSSC 22000 version 6 food safety certificate was suspended.
The fact that these certificates are revoked and suspended leads to the fact that products produced in the current period do not fully meet the conditions for quality certification according to regulations, and do not meet the conditions for being put into circulation on the market.
The company expects a maximum suspension period of 14 days to implement remedial measures and improvements to soon re-issue certificates, focusing on consolidating the management and administration apparatus, reviewing the entire supply chain, improving and completing production processes, building and implementing recurrence prevention measures, strengthening supplier control, raw material quarantine, raw material acceptance evaluation process, supplementing risk assessment and organizing retraining for workers.
After reviewing and assessing the situation, the Company said that actions to overcome it take a lot of time and depend on many subjective and objective conditions, leading to prolonged production suspension, not just stopping at 14 days as announced. Currently, the enterprise cannot determine when to continue production and business operations.
