Graduation failure is not the end

Yesterday, on August 6, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced that more than 8,800 students did not pass the 2025 high school graduation exam. Although the number is small, it is a problem for thousands of families.

However, the question is is failure a graduation goal the end?. Many education experts affirm: College is not the only door to the future.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the group of students who do not pass the graduation exam will still be granted a certificate of completion of the general education program. Students can completely register for re-exams, or study vocational education programs. Hundreds of secondary schools and colleges are currently expanding to receive students in this direction.

There have been many young people coming out of school, not passing the university gate but still taking control of their lives - from mechanical workshop owners, chefs, designers, to vocational software engineers. They succeed not because of their qualifications but thanks to their skills, hard work and passion.

A young man I know, Nguyen Van Khanh (22 years old, in Bac Giang) recently dropped out of high school in 2021. Not choosing to take the re-examination, Khanh registered to study refrigeration at a college. After 2 years of vocational training and internship at civil works, Khanh can now install, repair and receive dozens of orders each month. "Now my income is from 15-20 million VND/month" - Khanh shared.

In another case, Nguyen Thi Huyen (in Hanoi) after failing to graduate chose to study aesthetics. She currently has a primary vocational certificate and is working at a spa in Ho Chi Minh City. "At first, I was criticized for not having a future, now my parents are the ones who encouraged me to open my own shop because they saw that my career had real value" - Huyen said.

The current labor market is "thirsty" for skilled human resources - from electrical engineering, automobiles, food processing to logistics, graphic design. Meanwhile, many university graduates are still struggling to find a job due to lack of practice. Vocational training is no longer a " narrow trend" but has become a practical path, helping many young people have an early income and live independently.

Failure is not a failure. Maybe it was just a "light slips" to stop, rethink, and adjust the direction. If studying ineffectively in the old way, find another way. If the exam environment is not suitable, try a more practical professional environment.

In particular, those who want to retake the exam need to be supported mentally and methodically. The exam is not a matter of honor. Every year, many freelance candidates still take the re-exam to conquer their university dream - and some even pass the Top schools after persistent efforts.

Family, teachers, society - need to change their concepts. University degrees are good, but failing to graduate is not a "study term", nor is it an excuse for percentage or discrimination. There was a time when the educational balance was seriously " Inconsistent" with the situation of teacher surplus - shortage of workers. The teachers here are the noisy bachelors who have graduated, and the craftsmen are the ones with practical skills and professional qualifications in hand.

Learning is a lifelong process. After passing the graduation exam, you can still progress steadily in life, contributing to building society with your abilities. That means even if you are walking more slowly than others, you can still achieve success, with your own feet and determination.
