This is one of the city's special support policies to encourage people to use public transport and reduce urban traffic congestion.
The subjects who are exempted from tickets include: students in difficult circumstances from schools in Ho Chi Minh City with confirmation from schools or localities; workers in difficult circumstances working in industrial parks, production facilities, with confirmation from trade union organizations or enterprises.
The free payment is to facilitate workers and students to access modern means of transportation, while spreading the message of a friendly, civilized and humane Ho Chi Minh City.

Also during this time, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line officially deployed the additional form of cashless payment using ZaloPay e-wallet. Accordingly, passengers can use the application to pay directly at the ticket gate to get and exit at stations on the route from June 6, 2025.
With each round, passengers will log in to the account at ZaloPay payment application. After that, passengers only need to scan the QR code on the application at the entrance, the system will temporarily seize 19,000 VND. At the end of the journey and scanning the code at the output gate, the actual ticket price will be calculated and the remainder will be refunded immediately to the passenger's electronic wallet.
The combination of free policies for disadvantaged groups and the application of modern payment technology is expected to contribute to making metro lines the top choice of the city's people, promoting the trend of green and sustainable transportation.
