In recent days, the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B has attracted the attention of people and tourists when Lien Khuong International Airport closed for repairs from 0:00 on March 4.
The airport's temporary suspension of operations has forced passengers from many localities who want to come to Da Lat to change their routes. Instead of flying directly to Lien Khuong, many tourists choose to fly to airports in neighboring provinces and then travel by road.

In which, if flying to Ho Chi Minh City, the common option is to follow highways and then turn into National Highway 28B to go to Da Lat. This is considered the shortest and most convenient route.
According to the plan, the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B must be completed in March 2026. Therefore, the current time is considered the final sprint stage of the project.
On March 8, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province said that the locality has handed over the site to the investor for 67.66km/68km of the project, reaching a rate of 99.5%.

The remaining ground area of about 0.34km is being urgently handled by units to definitively hand over to the investor.
Regarding compensation, support and resettlement, there are currently 4 cases that have not been approved for compensation plans. Previously, there were 975 cases approved for compensation plans according to regulations.

Records at the construction site show that construction teams are deploying many items on the entire route. Construction volume has increased significantly compared to the beginning of 2026.
To date, the contractors have completed the construction of gravel aggregate for about 60.5km. The asphalt concrete paving item also reached about 58.5km.
However, there are still some sections that have not met the progress required by the Vietnam Road Administration.
Faced with the above situation, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep requested localities and relevant units to focus on definitively resolving the remaining site to hand over to the investor for construction deployment.
Mr. Hiep also requested Project Management Board 5 to direct contractors to mobilize maximum manpower and equipment, and organize overtime construction to achieve the goal of completing the entire project in March 2026.

In addition to speeding up progress, construction units are required to proactively organize reasonable traffic plans during construction to limit congestion and ensure safety for people and vehicles traveling on the route.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B has a total investment of more than 1,435 billion VND, about 68km long, invested by the Vietnam Road Administration and directly managed by Project Management Board 5.
The project started in April 2024, initially expected to be completed by the end of 2025. After that, the Ministry of Construction allowed the progress to be extended until the end of March 2026, and completed the procedures to end the project in 2026.
