In 2019, Hanoi started the Tay Thang Long Road Construction Project (from Pham Van Dong Street to Van Tien Dung Street, Bac Tu Liem District), with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND.
According to the plan, the route is about 3.2km long, with a cross-section of 60.5m with 10 lanes, passing through Co Nhue 2 and Minh Khai wards. A bridge will be built across the Nhue River on the route.
At the time of commencement, the Hanoi People's Committee assessed the investment in the construction of the West Thang Long route (the section from Pham Van Dong to Van Tien Dung) is a next step to complete the West Thang Long route according to the plan, contributing to perfecting the framework transport system, promoting the development of urban infrastructure and socio -economic development of Bac Tu Liem District and Hanoi Capital.
According to the original plan, the project will be completed and put into use in 2021. Up to now, the 4-year deadline has only reached about 50% of the project's progress and the construction has been suspended for a long time.
The main reason for the project's delay, pointed out by the authorities, is due to many difficulties and problems in site clearance.

Reporter's records show that up to now, the section from Van Tien Dung Street to Noi Bridge has basically taken shape but is littered with box culverts and construction materials. Many sections have been paved with sidewalk stones, overgrown with weeds, and have not been cleaned for a long time, causing loss of aesthetics.
The section from Noi Bridge to Pham Van Dong intersection has just been constructed with a length of nearly 350m, adjacent to the People's Committee of Co Nhue 2 Ward. The rest has not been implemented due to land clearance problems.
"The project has not been completed for many years and is greatly affecting people's lives and travel. I hope that authorities at all levels will soon have a way to resolve the issue completely" - Mr. Le Toan (54 years old, Bac Tu Liem) said.

A representative of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem District said that the biggest problem in site clearance for the second section of the project is the arrangement of resettlement areas for more than 400 households in Co Nhue 2 Ward.
However, this issue has now been resolved when the City People's Committee approved the district to allocate 2.55 hectares of land in Phuc Dien ward and 4.35 hectares of land in Lien Mac ward to make resettlement areas for households to relocate.
In order to promote the project progress, the leader of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the end of the third quarter of this year, the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem District must complete the remaining site clearance, set goals for technical traffic section 2 West Thang Long in October.
"The remaining time is 6 months, the district is urgently implementing this work and aims to complete site clearance according to the set schedule, opening the technical traffic of section 2 of the project from Ring Road 3 to Tay Tuu in October" - representative of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem District informed.
