Long An province has just issued a document requesting the central government to support VND 5,432 billion to invest in the construction of DT.827E route (National Highway 50B). This is one of the three key projects of the province in the period of 2020 - 2025, playing an important role in connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions.
The DT.827E project through Long An province has a total length of 35.6 km, passing through 4 districts: Can Giuoc, Can Duoc, Tan Tru and Chau Thanh. The starting point of the route is located at the Long An - Ho Chi Minh City border in Long Hau commune, Can Giuoc district; the end point connects with Tien Giang province in Hiep Thanh commune, Chau Thanh district.
This route is expected to become an important urban traffic axis, creating favorable conditions for trade and freight transport between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces in the Southwest. At the same time, the project will also promote the development of industrial parks, urban areas and economic centers along the route.
According to the proposal of the People's Committee of Long An province, support capital from the central budget will be allocated to 2 main items. Of which, 1,432 billion VND is spent on the construction of access roads to 3 bridges on DT.827E route (in 2025, it will cost 200 billion VND, the rest will be implemented in the 2026-2027 period); 4,000 billion VND is spent on the remaining part of the route, with a capital plan for 2025 of 50 billion VND, the rest will be implemented from 2026-2028.

Previously, the Prime Minister approved the investment proposal for 3 bridges on route DT.827E (including a bridge across the Can Giuoc River, the Vam Co Dong River and the Vam Co Tay River) according to Decision No. 599/QD-TTg dated July 5, 2024. This project will use foreign direct investment (ODA). Currently, the Long An Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is completing the procedures for selecting a consulting contractor to prepare the design documents, expected to be approved in July 2025, and started construction in August 2025.
Regarding site clearance, the People's Committee of Long An province has approved the project and approved the compensation, support and resettlement policy. Districts with roads passing through are implementing the counting and meeting of people to announce compensation plans, ensuring the progress of site handover to construction contractors.
According to the assessment, when completed, DT.827E route will not only help reduce traffic pressure on existing routes but also create development momentum for urban areas and industrial parks along the route. In particular, with its strategic location, this route will contribute to expanding development space for the Mekong Delta and the key economic region in the South.
