At noon on December 4, Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Dien Commune (Lam Dong) informed that after many efforts to walk through landslides on Gia Bac Pass, the police and militia forces of the commune have reached the area where more than 20 cars of all kinds were stuck on the pass.

The area of more than 20 cars with dozens of people stuck was identified at Km41 on National Highway 28. Here, there is a corn farm, all the trapped cars have been gathered here to avoid landslides and ensure safety.
"The brothers of Son Dien and Bac Binh communes were present to provide food and drinks to all of these people. Everyone is absolutely safe. However, because this area is mountainous forest and there is no phone signal, it is not possible to contact outside. Here, the landslides have been isolated and cut off in both directions, and forces are making efforts to clear a way to approach the scene to bring the people trapped out safely, Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan informed.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan, in addition to 7 large and small landslides and many places where forest trees fell on the night of December 3, this morning on Gia Bac Pass in Son Dien commune, at least 5 landslides continued to occur, including 2 serious landslides. The landslide on Gia Bac Pass stretched for many kilometers from Km 38 to Km 53. Of which, at Km51 alone, there were 7 large and small landslides.

Of the 5 new landslides, the landslide at Km52 was the most serious, with a landslide range of more than 70m. The landslide caused hundreds of tons of soil, rocks and forest trees to collapse, burying the pass road surface.
Similarly, a large landslide has just occurred at Km53, causing hundreds of tons of soil, rocks, and forest trees to fall onto the road.

Currently, Son Dien commune is coordinating with the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong province and the road management unit to mobilize forces and means to clear the landslide site.
As of noon today, forces are focusing on clearing the scene at the Km53 landslide to clear the scene of a serious landslide at Km52.

As expected, if the weather does not rain, with the determination and efforts of the forces, by noon tomorrow, December 4, the landslides will be cleared to access the scene to bring the cars and those trapped at Km41 out safely.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that heavy rain lasting from afternoon to evening caused a landslide on Gia Bac Pass (Km38-Km51) with a large amount of rock and soil and many forest trees falling onto the road. The incident paralyzed traffic on National Highway 28 in both directions.
