Previously, on December 13, 2025, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee approved the investment policy of the project. On March 4, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee continued to issue a decision approving the investor selection results for Phan Thiet Sun Airfield Co., Ltd.

According to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, the project has a scale of nearly 75ha of land, with a total investment of about 3.797 billion VND. The operating term is 50 years from the date of investment approval according to legal regulations.
The civil aviation item includes many main works such as the flight area with the airfield; air traffic control system, air and ground navigation.
The passenger terminal area is invested and built with an area of up to 18,000m2, with an expected operating capacity of 2 million passengers per year.
The project also includes inland port traffic items such as the road connecting to the airport, the system of roads connecting functional areas, parking lots, ring roads and auxiliary works.
Phan Thiet Airport was started in January 2015, according to the plan, it includes two items: a military airport and a civil airport. Currently, the military item deployed by the Air Defense - Air Force Service has been put into operation.
The early deployment and completion of the civil item is expected to create more motivation for tourism development. Thereby, contributing to promoting the socio-economy of the province in the coming time.
