The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B through Lam Dong province is about 68km long, with a total investment of more than 1,400 billion VND. The investor is the Vietnam Road Administration, Project Management Board 5 is assigned to directly manage and operate the construction. The entire route is divided into 2 construction packages.
On December 23, Mr. Le Van Chung - Deputy Director of Project Management Board 5 said that the construction progress at the construction site is showing many positive signals, especially the items of foundation, road surface and asphalt concrete. The weather has reduced the extreme rain, creating conditions for contractors to accelerate.
At the XD01 package, section Km0 - Km42, the site clearance work has been handed over 39/41km, reaching about 95%. The remaining site is scattered in 5 short sections, mainly related to the relocation of technical infrastructure such as domestic water pipes and medium-voltage power poles.
Regarding the construction volume, XD01 package has completed about 85% of the roadbed filling work. As for the road surface item, many sections are being paved with asphalt concrete, reaching about 39% of the volume. Contractors arrange machinery and human resources to work through the rolling, prioritizing sections that meet technical requirements.
In parallel with the road, the bridge projects on the route are also being accelerated. The Song Luy Bridge has completed the bridge deck and expansion joints. The railway overpass has completed one abutment, and is focusing on constructing the remaining abutment to soon complete the main structure.
In the XD02 package, section Km42 - Km69, the progress is assessed to be more positive because the site has been almost completely handed over. Many sections on the route have completed the roadbed and surface. As for the section Km59 - Km69, it is basically completed, currently the units are deploying a traffic safety system, reinforcing the slope and completing drainage.
The bridge and overpass items on package XD02 are also being constructed at the same time. Some main structures have been completed, the remaining work focuses on the bridge deck, handling complex stone foundation locations and locally adjusting the design according to the actual site.
According to Project Management Board 5, with more favorable land and stable weather, contractors are being asked to take advantage of every day to make up for the progress, especially the sections that meet the asphalt conditions. The project is currently adjusted to the construction completion date of March 2026, and the project completion procedures are expected to be completed in 2026.
National Highway 28B is the shortest route connecting Phan Thiet with the administrative center of Lam Dong province, with a large volume of vehicles, especially tourist and transport vehicles. In the context of Lien Khuong Airport preparing to temporarily suspend operations for upgrading, speeding up the progress of National Highway 28B becomes even more urgent, contributing to ensuring smooth traffic and serving the socio-economic development of the region.
