The Ministry of Construction has just issued a decision approving the Detailed Planning for the development of land and water areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport (formerly) for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
It is known that Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport (formerly) includes the wharves: Thi Vai; Cai Mep; Long Son; Dinh River; Sao Mai - Ben Dinh; Vung Tau international passenger port; Con Dao port; offshore oil and gas ports; pontoon wharves, transshipment areas and anchorage, avoidance, and storm shelters.
According to the plan, by 2030, there will be 60 wharves, including more than 117 wharves with a total length of about 29,000 m (excluding offshore oil and gas wharves and wharves). Thereby, welcoming 2.67-2.89 million visitors; through goods from 215-236.9 million tons (excluding international transit containers).
Vision to 2050, meeting demand through goods will grow by 3.5-3.8%/year; continue to develop new ports to meet demand through goods.
In particular, Vung Tau International Passenger Port includes 2 passenger ports with a total length of 840 m (excluding other ports); capable of receiving ships with a capacity of up to 225,000 GT; meeting the needs of 1.39-1.5 million passengers.
At the same time, orient the planning of other functional areas such as flower pick-up and drop-off areas, quarantine in Vung Tau; areas and locations for receiving dredged material according to the Ho Chi Minh City planning...
Previously, from 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province previously planned to invest in building an international passenger port in Bai Truoc area (Vung Tau ward); identifying this as an iconic, international-class and aesthetic project, suitable for the scale of a destination port.
The consulting consortium presented a total of 11 design options, with different square and curved approach bridge models. The investment level of each option ranges from 1,333 to more than VND 8,000 billion.
