For about a week now, the Hanoi Department of Construction has coordinated with the City Police to deploy a lane division plan using a hard median strip on Vo Chi Cong Street (Tay Ho District).
The goal of lane division is to ensure traffic order and safety, reducing lane chaos, especially on large traffic axes with high flow.
However, after a short time of installation, Lao Dong's records show that there was a serious traffic jam, especially at the time of disembarkation on Vo Chi Cong Street.

According to records, the lane for cars was congested from the foot of Nhat Tan bridge to the intersection with Vo Chi Cong - Nguyen Hoang Ton road.
In particular, in the area where the lane division barrier has started, many cars passing by to change from lane to a dedicated lane for motorbikes, forcing vehicles to stop and wait for the lane change, causing chaos, congestion, and serious congestion.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thai (36 years old, Dong Anh, Hanoi) said that since the hard median strip was installed on Vo Chi Cong Street (towards the inner city), he did not dare to drive a car into 2 inner lanes for fear of being fined.
"The signs on the price of dragon fruit have not been installed yet, so I do not know which lane is right to travel. If you go to 3 lanes on the outside, it will be congested, if you go to 2 lanes on the inside, you will worry about violations" - Mr. Thai said.

Commenting on the traffic situation on Vo Chi Cong Street in recent days, in an interview with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Deputy Director of the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board (Hanoi Department of Construction) said that because the new barriers have been installed, "people are not used to it", leading to chaotic traffic and causing congestion.
In addition, the construction unit is still in the process of installing a median strip and a sign system, leading to car drivers mistaking the two lanes in the same lane for rudimentary vehicles, so they do not dare to enter.
"We confirm that cars are allowed to enter lanes on Vo Chi Cong Street, including 3 lanes reserved for cars and 2 mixed lanes (cars, motorbikes)" - Mr. Hai said and believed that when vehicles are in a row, the traffic pressure will be reduced.

Currently, the Maintenance Board is still monitoring the traffic situation on the route at different times, and coordinating with Hanoi Police (light control center, on-duty force) to regulate traffic during the construction of the median strip installation and the first days of traffic diversion.
At the intersection of Vo Chi Cong - Nguyen Hoang Ton streets, in the coming days, the authorities will organize a separate light festival for the left turn lane, not dependent on the straight lane.
"It is expected that by June 30, the installation of the median strip will be completed and from July 1, an official lane division will be held on Vo Chi Cong Street" - Mr. Hai said.
