According to the reporter's investigation, the project of the factory producing bamboo, industrial bamboo and bamboo products has just been granted an environmental license on January 14, 2025. The investor is Greenhill Valley Joint Stock Company (located in Long Bien District, Hanoi).
The project has a total area of 2.52 hectares, of which 0.82 hectares are planted forests belonging to the production forest. On February 24, the People's Council of Cao Bang province approved the policy of converting forest use to other purposes to implement the construction of the factory.
The factory will be built in Ban Sang hamlet, Bach Dang commune, Hoa An district, Cao Bang province. According to the design documents, the production capacity of industrial bamboo and floor planks from bamboo and rattan at the factory is expected to reach about 25,000m3 of products/year, with a total investment of 165 billion VND. The factory is licensed to operate for 50 years.
The project is expected to contribute to solving the output of a large raw material area including bamboo, bamboo, and rattan in Cao Bang province. Currently, these crops are mainly consumed through a number of small units, causing unstable prices and unstable output.
Talking to reporters on February 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang (residing in Hoa An district) shared: "I hope the factory will be built and put into operation soon to create more jobs for local people, helping to consume bamboo at a better price."
In addition to positive expectations, people also hope that the factory will ensure environmental criteria, including emission control, wastewater, as well as limit noise and vibration during operation.
According to Environmental License No. 39 issued by the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, the wastewater of the plant after treatment will be discharged into the sewers, then flow directly into the Hien River.
The construction of a bamboo product factory is considered an important step in developing the forest products processing industry in Cao Bang.
This project not only helps increase the economic value of bamboo trees, but also contributes to creating jobs for local workers, limiting labor migration. However, to make the factory fully exploit its potential, there needs to be a policy to support people in developing sustainable raw material areas, avoiding over- exploitation that affects the environment.
At the same time, strictly controlling environmental factors is also a challenge, requiring strict supervision from authorities to ensure industrial development associated with protecting the natural ecosystem.
