Promoting the application of information technology
In order to build an integrated tax management system focused on meeting the requirements of December's business processes, supporting maximum automation of work processing flows, ensuring the center of service for people and businesses, the Tax Department organized the Workshop "Restructuring information technology systems to meet digital transformation requirements in tax management" on March 27-28, 2025. Deputy Director Mai Son chaired the workshop; The workshop was attended by representatives of regional Tax Departments/Departments; representatives of solution companies and independent consultants.
Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director Mai Son said that Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on the development of science, technology and innovation has identified science and technology as the core driving force in socio-economic development and improving national competitiveness in the context of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution, science and technology are not only a factor to ensure sustainable development but also the key to help Vietnam break through and narrow the gap with advanced countries.
According to the Deputy Director, in the context of strong changes in the world and in Vietnam in the application of science and technology, information technology (IT) and digital transformation, the Tax sector is also one of the fields strongly affected by the development of science and technology.
Integrating information technology systems, reducing administrative procedures
With the increased application and acceleration of the digital transformation implementation process in tax management, the Tax sector affirms that change is not only a trend but also an urgent requirement to improve the efficiency of management, improve transparency, reduce costs and time for both tax authorities and taxpayers - Deputy Director Mai Son emphasized.
Stating the two goals of the Tax sector in restructuring tax management professional processes and restructuring the IT system, the Deputy Director clearly stated the requirements for changes to meet the requirements of digital transformation in tax management activities:
First, comprehensively modernize tax management, in accordance with international practices and Vietnamese legal regulations, focusing on synchronous, public, transparent and fair tax management institutions, applying risk management in tax management, creating favorable conditions for taxpayers to voluntarily comply; tax authorities with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage taxes; integrated and centralized information technology systems, meeting processing requirements, providing information for tax management, tax authority direction and operation and providing electronic services and digital services to taxpayers.
Second, develop an integrated and centralized tax management system, ensuring the center for people and businesses, transparency and efficiency, promoting administrative reform, improving the experience for taxpayers through the application of IT according to the Government's orientation on e-Government and digital transformation, ensuring connectivity, data integration and high security.
At the workshop, representatives of solutions providers and representatives of the Tax Department's/professional units and Tax Branches in the region assessed the current status of the Tax sector's IT system, discussed and proposed specific solutions for the restructuring of business processes and restructuring the IT system to improve management efficiency, reduce administrative procedures and create the best favorable conditions for taxpayers based on international practices and the ability to implement them in Vietnam.
The Tax sector appreciates the active participation and high sense of responsibility, the sharing of enthusiasm of solution providers, the enthusiastic contributions of unit leaders, consultants and delegates attending the workshop. The enthusiastic opinions and specific, practical recommendations with the desire to contribute to the Tax sector in strongly promoting the digital transformation process, restructuring the Tax sector's IT system towards building a modern, transparent, effective tax system, in line with the development trend of the digital era" - Deputy Director Mai Son emphasized.
