Flower prices increased slightly
On the eve of November 20, the atmosphere of fresh flower shopping at traditional shops and markets in Can Tho City has begun to become bustling. Many fresh flower products such as roses, sunflowers, hydrangeas, tulips, etc. are displayed in attractive locations in the shops.
At this time, Ms. Tran Ngoc Linh's shop (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) has imported many new flower models to serve the occasion of November 20. Ms. Linh said that currently, some flower models have started to increase slightly by 5 - 10% due to high demand.
“In addition to domestic flowers, I also import some foreign flower models, but they are quite limited or only ordered according to available orders because the price is quite high. The rest, the store mainly increases roses, sunflowers, hydrangeas, etc.,” said Ms. Linh.
To increase customers, Ms. Linh has consulted and created many new and beautiful flower decoration models such as lotus flower baskets, flowers arranged in glass baskets... Currently, a bouquet of flowers at Ms. Linh's shop costs from 150,000 - 500,000 VND. The higher segment is almost only made to order.
Although only selling online, Ms. Huynh Mai Thy (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) has also increased many new flower models from Da Lat to meet customer demand.
According to Ms. Thy, compared to 2023, the price of fresh flowers has increased by about 10%. Sunflowers cost from 35,000 - 50,000 VND/flower, depending on size; roses cost from 10,000 - 30,000 VND/flower, depending on type; gerberas cost from 20,000 - 30,000 VND/flower...
With a slight increase in price plus the cost of accessories, Thy’s pre-made flower bouquets currently cost at least 150,000 VND/bouquet. Imported flower bouquets cost from 400,000 to over 1 million VND/bouquet.
Increase workforce
Currently, Ms. Linh's shop has received early orders from classes, so it needs to hire more seasonal staff to meet the delivery schedule. Accordingly, in addition to knowing basic flower wrapping skills, employees must also work full-time from November 18 to 20 with an agreed salary.
Explaining this request, Ms. Linh said that in the days leading up to November 20, the shop had to operate at full capacity, even waking up at 3-4am to wrap flowers. Not to mention that the number of pre-ordered flower orders has increased by about 15% compared to last year, so to reduce pressure as well as ensure the reputation of the shop, hiring seasonal employees is necessary.
Although she has hired 2 more assistants to help her pack, Ms. Thy shared that she will only accept orders made according to customer's request until November 19. On November 20, Ms. Thy will sell pre-packaged designs due to lack of time.
“Many customers have sent samples and asked for prices. In addition to the samples posted by the shop, some customers also sent samples upon request. For requested samples, if ordered early, I still accept and discuss prices with customers because the packaging is complicated and takes more time,” said Ms. Thy.
