The 2026 National Conference on Fisheries Science and Technology and Fisheries Surveillance is expected to open up new momentum for sustainable growth in the industry.

On the morning of April 20, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a press conference to inform about the National Conference on Fisheries Science and Technology and Fisheries Surveillance in 2026; Vinafis Expo 2026 International Exhibition.

Presiding over the press conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien affirmed: "This will be an opportunity to connect technology with production and increase exports. Held in Ho Chi Minh City - a point of exchange for aquaculture development of the whole country, the conference will mark a milestone for aquaculture development in 2026 and the following years".

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in 2025, the country's seafood output reached nearly 10 million tons, with an export turnover of about 11.3 billion USD, bringing Vietnam to fourth place in the world in terms of output and third in export value.

The seafood industry aims to achieve a production output of 9.8 million tons by 2030, export turnover from 14 - 16 billion USD, and at the same time develop marine farming into a large-scale industry. Vision to 2045, seafood continues to play a key role in the agricultural and marine economic structure, making Vietnam a deep seafood processing center, belonging to the top 3 countries in the world.

To realize these goals, science and technology and innovation are identified as the core foundation, playing a key role in the development process, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

The 2026 National Conference on Fisheries Science and Technology and Fisheries Surveillance will take place on two days, April 27-28, 2026 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City. The conference is expected to gather about 300 delegates who are managers, scientists, businesses, domestic and international organizations, representatives of localities and fishermen.

The conference aims to summarize and evaluate the results of research and development of science and technology in the field of aquaculture and fisheries surveillance in the period 2021 - 2025; update new achievements in the country and the world in aquaculture, nutrition, biotechnology, disease management, resource protection, exploitation, preservation, processing and sustainable fisheries development. At the same time, this is also a forum to orient the development of a key science and technology program for the period 2026 - 2030, serving sustainable aquaculture development, circular economy and digital transformation.

In this series of activities, the "Vietnam International Seafood Science and Technology Exhibition I - VinaFis Expo 2026" will also take place from April 28 - 30, 2026 at SECC, Ho Chi Minh City. This will be a space for managers, scientists, businesses, organizations, individuals and farmers and fishermen to meet, share and transfer technology.
